#A word from Engineer Rushdi El-Sayed Omar, Chairman of the Board and Managing Director, on the occasion of World Water Day
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Ladies and gentlemen… Esteemed residents of Menoufia Governorate,
It is my pleasure and honor to extend to you all my sincerest greetings and appreciation on the occasion of World Water Day, which falls on March 22nd of each year. This day was designated by the United Nations as a global occasion to highlight the importance of water and raise awareness of the need to conserve it, as it is the foundation of life and the cornerstone of sustainable development.
Water is the secret and essence of life, a great blessing bestowed upon humankind by God, and the basis of every living being. God Almighty says:
"And We made from water every living thing."
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) also said:
"Do not waste water, even if you are by a flowing river."
In a clear affirmation of the value of moderation and the importance of rationalizing the use of this great blessing.
Therefore, water conservation is no longer an option, but an imperative duty imposed by the current challenges facing water resources globally, most notably climate change, population growth, and increasing water demand.
In this context, the Egyptian state is giving great attention to the water issue, having launched numerous national projects and ambitious strategies aimed at achieving water security and maximizing the benefit from available resources. Among the most prominent of these efforts are:
Expanding the construction and development of wastewater treatment plants according to the latest international standards, allowing for the reuse of treated water in agricultural development projects.
Implementing major national water treatment projects that are among the largest in the world.
Linating canals and modernizing irrigation systems to reduce losses and increase efficiency.
Expanding the use of modern technology in the management and operation of water and wastewater networks.
Promoting seawater desalination projects as a sustainable water source.
These efforts are part of a comprehensive vision that seeks to achieve water sustainability and ensure the needs of current and future generations are met.
For its part, the Menoufia Drinking Water and Sanitation Company continues to play its vital role through ongoing efforts to develop the water and sanitation system, improve the efficiency of stations and networks, and enhance the quality of service provided to citizens, in addition to expanding the implementation of projects in the most needy areas.
We are also committed to spreading a culture of water awareness among citizens through continuous awareness campaigns aimed at instilling responsible consumption habits and preserving every drop of water, based on the principle that water conservation is a shared responsibility between the state and the citizen.
Ladies and gentlemen…
The challenges facing the water sector require us all to rise to the occasion and recognize that every drop of water is life, and that its proper management is an investment in the future of our children.
In conclusion, we reaffirm our commitment that the Menoufia Drinking Water and Sanitation Company, with its leadership and employees, will remain united, exerting every effort to provide the best services, achieve citizen satisfaction, and contribute effectively to supporting the state's efforts towards achieving sustainable development.
May God protect Egypt, its leadership and its people, and perpetuate upon it the blessings of security, water, and prosperity. Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
