"Menoufia Water" launches field awareness campaigns on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
Engineer Rushdi El-Sayed Omar, Chairman of the Menoufia Drinking Water and Sanitation Company, directed the awareness team to conduct field awareness campaigns in all cities of the governorate during the Eid al-Adha holiday. This initiative anticipates an increase in drinking water consumption during the holiday, which will place additional strain on the sewage network.
He added that the awareness team will be conducting field visits to butcher shops and markets throughout the governorate to encourage residents to use the sewage network properly, dispose of animal slaughter waste correctly, and conserve water during the Eid al-Adha holiday.
He pointed out that the awareness campaigns being implemented aim to change the wasteful behaviors of some citizens regarding the misuse of drinking water or the improper handling of sewage networks. These campaigns highlight the environmental and health damage resulting from such behaviors, thus preserving the sewage networks that cost the state millions of pounds. They also aim to educate butchers on conserving drinking water, reducing water consumption, and refraining from disposing of sacrificial animal remains in the sewage system, which causes overflows in many areas and inflicts hardship on residents.
The campaigns included messages urging citizens to conserve every drop of water, avoid disposing of waste in the sewage system, use bags to collect sacrificial animal remains to prevent blockages, and avoid water outages lasting several hours while cleaning or repairing leaks are carried out. These leaks can be reported free of charge through the hotline 125 or via WhatsApp at 01220906668.
