  • Dr. Engineer Mohamed Naguib Saleh, Chairman of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Company in Menoufia, received a delegation from the World Bank and the Asian Bank during their visit to Menoufia Governorate, to follow up on the status of the projects being implemented within the Sustainable Sanitation Services Program in Rural Areas (SRSSP) in its first and second phases, which is being implemented in the city of Tala.
  • Officials of the World Bank and Asian Bank mission during the visit inspected the work of the Al-Kamaysha treatment station, which is being implemented with a future capacity of 9,000 m3/day, and which is being implemented by the International Construction Company. The implementing company provided a detailed presentation about the station, which aims to serve about 79,684 thousand people in 4 villages and 10 satellite towns.
  • The Kafr Al-Alawi lifting station with a capacity of 2,500 m3/day serving 7,302 people, contracted by Al-Shehab Company, was also inspected, as well as the work of implementing slope networks, lifting stations, and expulsion lines in the village of Saft Jidam, which is being implemented with network lengths of 24,085 meters, contracted by the Misr Construction and Development Company.
  • Representatives of the mission held sessions with some citizens and local committees that were formed to represent the community, which contribute to supporting the program in the villages under implementation, applying the principles of community participation, and the extent of citizens’ satisfaction with the implementation of work and the extension of services.
  • Representatives of the mission praised the clear role of women in those committees, as well as in Egyptian society in general, and the impact this had in particular on achieving program results and implementing projects.
  • The delegation concluded the visit by thanking all attendees for the wonderful achievement in implementing the work, which is a model for all other projects to follow.
  • The mission was accompanied by officials of the Project Management Unit, Project Management Unit of the Ministry of Housing (PMU), the Program Management Consultant (PMCF), and the Implementation Support Consultant (ISC) from the EnviroConsult office.
  • It is worth noting that the project aims to increase the supply of sanitation services, raise the efficiency of the infrastructure, and raise the level of services provided to citizens, including implementing these works in the targeted villages and districts, in addition to improving the performance of the drinking water and sanitation company, which ensures the sustainability of the quality of services and maximizes the benefit from the investments made. It is pumped by the program.
