Menoufia Water Company launches field awareness campaigns on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
Engineer Rushdi El-Sayed Omar, Chairman of the Menoufia Drinking Water and Wastewater Company, directed the awareness management team to implement field awareness campaigns on the occasion of Eid al-Adha in all cities of the governorate. Citizens are expected to increase their use of drinking water during the holiday, which will result in increased burden on sewage networks.
He added that the awareness team is conducting field visits to butcher shops and citizens in markets in the governorate's centers, urging them to properly handle sewage networks and dispose of waste from slaughtering sacrificial animals, while conserving water and rationalizing its use during the Eid al-Adha holiday.
He pointed out that the awareness campaigns being implemented aim to change the wrong behaviors of some citizens in wasting drinking water, or mishandling sewage networks, in order to highlight the environmental and health damages resulting from these behaviors, in order to preserve sewage networks that cost the state millions of pounds, as well as to educate butchers on conserving drinking water, reducing the amount of water used, and not disposing of the remains of sacrificial animals into sewage networks, which exposes many areas to overflow and causes suffering for citizens.
The campaigns included messages urging citizens to conserve every drop of water, not to throw waste into sewers, and to use bags to collect sacrificial waste to protect sewer networks from clogging. They also urged citizens to avoid cutting off water for several hours until the water supply is cleared or broken, which can be reported free of charge through the hotline 125 or WhatsApp on 01220906668.
